SUDAN

SUDAN

The Humidity Stiff, never minding the burning heat of the Sun

Women and young children walk it

Its hot, so is the ground

It’s the bush, the ground has thorns

Bare-footed they trod

There’s no food or safe water,

They must walk on

The night is cold, the sky is clear

They dare not halt

Their enemy is coming

Snakes, Lions feared less

Painful is he who’s pursuing them

Walking and running they are the enemy is in their search

They better reach the border

Rains come and, they are socked

Disease and pain is inevitable

They don’t have to rest,

They better get away

Away from Soldiers who want them

They’re scared of being Raped and killed if they resist
